One of the difficulties I experience in AP Literature is ensuring that students have read the texts they are assigned. I like to use reading quiz assessment to ensure they have read along with essays and other in-class activities. In order to complete these activities, the student has to have read the text.
I created an online learning quiz for Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad to test reading comprehension before moving on to the final assessment, an essay.

I find by having various assessments, students are able to show their mastery of the concepts in several different ways.
